1. What to know about joining executive networking groups
Key points:
- Do your homework and research the best networking groups for your executives and your niche, both online and in-person.
- Don’t be afraid to ask to speak with the membership director and make inquiries about the members of the group to ensure you’re a good fit.
- Most groups will offer a complimentary or low-cost visit so you can test the waters before joining.
- When looking at groups, you want to know more about options for both in-person and online networking. Not all groups offer both. Some groups will offer one or the other, often with online networking at a lower rate.
Pro tip: Apply for membership even if you don’t think you’ll be accepted. You may have the opportunity to become a vetted resource. I don’t qualify to be a member of some executive groups because my company doesn’t gross over $1M dollars a year. However, I’m a trusted partner for their members — a value add resource. I’ve provided books, my workbook, and also done workshops and classes for their members. It’s been a great way to build relationships, network with members, and — best part! — not even have to pay a membership fee!
